Volcanoes

There are several national and state parks in the United States that are home to volcanoes or volcanic landscapes. These parks offer visitors the opportunity to learn about volcanic geology, see volcanic features such as lava flows and cinder cones, and in some cases, even witness ongoing volcanic activity.

Some examples of national parks with volcanoes include:

  • Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii, which is home to the active volcano Kilauea and the extinct volcano Mauna Loa.
  • Lassen Volcanic National Park in California, which is home to the active volcano Lassen Peak, which last erupted in 1915.
  • Mount Rainier National Park in Washington, which is home to the active volcano Mount Rainier.
  • Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve, Idaho
  • Newberry National Volcanic Monument, Oregon
  • Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii

It’s worth noting that many of these parks have restrictions on hiking and other activities in certain areas due to the volcanic hazards. Visitors should always be aware of the park’s safety regulations and follow them for their own safety.
