Aviation

Aviation has played an important role in the history of the United States and several national parks throughout the country commemorate this history by preserving sites and stories related to aviation. Some examples of national parks that highlight the history of aviation include:

  • Wright Brothers National Memorial in North Carolina, which preserves the site of the first successful powered flight and commemorates the lives and achievements of the Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur.

  • Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum in Kansas, which is dedicated to the life and achievements of Amelia Earhart, a pioneering female aviator who made several notable flights in the 1920s and 1930s.

These are just a few examples, but there are many other national parks throughout the United States that highlight the history of aviation and the contributions of aviators to American history. These sites often have exhibits, artifacts, and educational programs that provide visitors with an understanding of the history and significance of aviation.
